Will You Help Us Provide Need-Based Scholarships?

WSF has been providing scholarships to Wellesley residents since 1951 with the goal of ensuring that every Wellesley youth can pursue his or her dream of continuing their education after high school.

Did you know that, even in our comfortable suburb of Wellesley, many students cannot afford the full cost of a college education and need financial aid? Yes, it’s true. Here in Wellesley, neighbors proudly help each other because education lifts us all up.

This academic year, Wellesley Scholarship Foundation (WSF) awarded $248,250 in need-based college scholarships to 78 students from Wellesley. Right now, we are in the midst of processing more need- based scholarship applications for next year’s needs. Only with your help can they pursue their dreams of a college education.

We are helping – will you join us?

Meet Our Boston Marathon Runner

First-time marathoner and Wellesley native Phil Brannigan (Schofield ’00, WHS ‘2007) hasn’t had to deal with eight foot snow drifts as he trains for the Boston Marathon this winter in Washington, D.C. Phil is planning to raise at least $4,000 to help meet the growing demands for need-based scholarships from Wellesley students wishing to pursue their post-secondary education. All proceeds from Phil’s Boston Marathon fund raising efforts will support need- based scholarships.

Sarah Pedersen, WSF President, expressed her gratitude for Phil’s decision to help sponsor WSF. “It is wonderful to see returning WHS alumni who are willing to assist current Wellesley students who might not otherwise have the ability to attend college. It is evidence of how supportive Wellesley residents can be of one another.”
